Blog @ gafvert.info

I have started a blog

I have now also joined the blogging sphere!

I have been thinking about it for a long time should I start a blog or not? Previously, I never saw a really good reason for having a blog, because I could just publish whatever I wanted on my website. But I have changed my mind, and I have also decided that this blog will be somewhat different to many other blogs (but every blog is unique that makes blogging so wonderful).

In general, when I publish something on my website, I make heavy research to make sure that everything I write is accurate (not saying that I am perfect, sometimes I do publish something that is not completely accurate, or can be misunderstood). In general, it takes from two to six hours to write an article, but some of the longer articles has taken over a week (for example Views in SQL Server 2000). Sometimes, this prevents me to publish articles that is useful, but has not (yet) met my standard. This is bad. If something I write can help at least one person, or at least point them into the right direction, it is worth publishing (I do understand the problem with too much information, but I think that the search engines today are good enough to give relevant hits).

This is the first reason for this blog, to faster publish information. Do note that I am not saying that what I publish on my blog is not researched. gafvert.info stands for quality, not quantity, and my goal is always to publish well written articles and information. But sometimes it is better to publish something that points the reader into the right direction, instead of not publishing anything at all. Hey, it is not a book I am writing, I am allowed to refer people to other websites with more information about the topic! :-)

The second reason for this blog (somewhat related to reason #1) is that I sometimes just want to express my thoughts. With my website, I could not find any category where this could fit. It is not an article explaining how to do something, it is not a question that people ask, it is just some thoughts that people should be thinking about...

The third reason for this blog is to act as a service for my visitors. You, the visitor, can get updated information about what is new on this website, using any application you want (as long as it supports RSS 2.0). No more wondering if I have published something you have missed, everything I publish will get a blog entry. Wonderful!
